This session will always hold a special place in my heart—it was my very first family session I captured professionally in Dubuque, and I couldn’t have asked for a better family to begin with. The Dolsons brought so much warmth, love, and playful energy.
We met in a quiet, wooded park that felt like the perfect place for the kids to explore. One of my favorite parts of the session was watching the kids discover the nature around us - catching tadpoles, balancing on logs over the water, and blowing dandelions. It was pure joy to photograph them in their element, barefoot and adventurous. Outdoor photo sessions are the perfect opportunity for kids to be themselves.
The sibling bond was especially sweet to capture—whispers, giggles, and hugs. Whether they were sitting quietly or bursting into laughter and being silly, there was so much love in their interactions.
And let’s not forget the parents—between the family photos and kid-led adventures, we took a few moments to document just the two of them by the water for some sweet moments as a couple.
